NJ 211
This Home Energy Assistance (HEA) Hotline helps low-income residents with information about their heating and cooling bills |
LIHEAP
A federal program where income-qualified customers receive support for heating bills and medically necessary cooling costs |
Universal Service Fund (USF) and Fresh Start Program (FSP)
Income-qualified customers can receive a USF credit toward their bills. Customers who apply for USF will be screened for FSP. |
SHARES Energy Assistance Grants

NJBPU Payment Assistance for Gas and Electric (PAGE)
Income-qualified customers may apply for PAGE and SMART Utility, after completing the LIHEAP/USF application process |
SMART utility assistance
Income-qualified customers who have been denied support from LIHEAP/USF may be eligible for SHARES energy assistance. |
SHARES energy assistance
Income-qualified grants for electric service or home heating source. Must also complete LIHEAP app. |
NJ Lifeline for seniors and disabled adults

Deferred Payment Arrangement (DPA)
A DPA sets up regular monthly installment payments towards your remaining balance to bring your account up to date |
Equal payment plan
This establishes predictability to your monthly energy bill to smooth out peaks, subject to a yearly true-up |
