New Jersey American Water (NJAW) contractor crews will be working on Mountain Avenue, from Monday, March 24 to Friday, March 28.
- Work area: between the Altamont Pl and Mountain Avenue intersection and West End Avenue and Mountain Avenue intersection
- Work Hours: 8 am to 4 pm
- Please expect minor traffic delays during working hours
About the project
NJAW is installing 3,200 feet of new 30-inch water transmission main and replacing 2,200 feet of aging 10 and 12-inch pipes in Somerville. This project will help strengthen the system and mitigate potential breaks.

- Veterans Memorial Drive West (from South Davenport Street to Somerset Street)
- Mountain Avenue (from Somerset Street to West Cliff Street/Altamont Place)
- Somerset Street (from Route 206 to Mountain Avenue)
- Traffic plan: At this time, at least 1 lane of traffic will remain open in construction areas. NJAW will advise if/when detours are necessary due to road closures.
