New Jersey American Water (NJAW) is installing 3,200 feet of new 30-inch water transmission main and replacing 2,200 feet of aging 10 and 12-inch pipes in Somerville. This project will help strengthen the system and mitigate potential breaks.
About the project
- Timeline: March to July 2025
- Work locations: Veterans Memorial Drive West (from South Davenport Street to Somerset Street), Mountain Avenue (from Somerset Street to West Cliff Street/Altamont Place) and Somerset Street (from Route 206 to Mountain Avenue)
- Traffic plan: At this time, at least 1 lane of traffic will remain open in construction areas. NJAW will advise if/when detours are necessary due to road closures.
Monday, March 17 to Friday, March 21
- NJAW contractor crews will be working on Mountain Avenue (from Somerset Street to West Cliff Street/Altamont Place)
- Work Hours: 9 am to 3 pm
