New Jersey American Water (NJAW) is installing 3,200 feet of new 30-inch water transmission main and replacing 2,200 feet of aging 10 and 12-inch mains in Somerville. This project will help strengthen the system and mitigate potential breaks.
About the project
- Timeline: March to July 2025
- Work locations: Veterans Memorial Drive West (from South Davenport Street to Somerset Street), Mountain Avenue (from Somerset Street to West Cliff Street/Altamont Place) and Somerset Street (from Route 206 to Mountain Avenue)
- Traffic plan: Roads will remain open. Expect alternating traffic patterns during work hours.
Monday, March 10 to Friday, March 14
- Monday: NJAW contractor crews are working at the intersection of Altamont Place and Mountain Avenue.
- Tuesday through Friday: Crews will work in varied locations on or near Mountain Avenue.
- Work Hours: 9 am to 4 pm
