December 20: NJ American Water is aware of taste and odor issues and will continue flushing the water system. We are anticipating 1 to 2 inches of snow tonight into Saturday morning. Black ice is possible. Residents have 12 daylight hours to clear snow from sidewalks once the precipitation has ended.

About the construction project

South Davenport Street will be closed for construction for approximately 4 weeks, starting on or about Monday, June 17. This closure is for the construction and installation of an aerial pedestrian bridge (or walkway) that will connect The Edge At Main apartment buildings.

  • Full road closure: The road will be completely closed for 4 weeks between West Main Street and the entrance to the parking area near Starbucks
  • Intermittent road closure: The road will be closed, as needed, between West Main Street and the entrance to the Chase bank

Traffic plan during construction

  • From West Main Street, there will be no entry to South Davenport Street
  • From Veterans Memorial Drive, the entrance to South Davenport Street will remain open to traffic
  • From the ShopRite parking lot, exit will be a left-turn only
  • From the Chase Bank parking area, exit will be a right -turn only

Follow directional signs

  • Directional signs will guide pedestrians and motor vehicles around the construction
  • Detour signs will be placed to direct people and vehicles around the construction area when the bridge is lifted into place
  • Please exercise extra caution during this time

Pedestrian access during construction

  • The sidewalk on the south side of West Main Street remains closed to pedestrians due to the ongoing construction of the second Edge building
  • Pedestrians must use the sidewalk on the north side of the street as indicated by signs currently in place

About the pedestrian bridge

The Edge pedestrian bridge

This walkway will be 17’ 6” above South Davenport Street and will provide covered residential access between both apartment buildings and the parking deck located at the western portion of the project area.
