Request residential and visitor parking permits
There are certain streets where parking is limited or in high demand. Parking permits give residents (and their guests) priority to park in available parking spaces.
Permit types
Each household is entitled to an unlimited number of residential parking permits and 2 visitor parking permits.
Residential permits
Residents on streets with restricted parking must register for free parking permit(s), which are:
- Issued for any vehicle(s) owned by a resident of that street
- Required to be displayed on the vehicle's left rear window
- Valid for 1 year
Visitor permits
When you register for a residential parking permit, you will automatically receive 2 visitor parking permits.
- The visitor permits are portable and must hang on the vehicle's rearview mirror
- You should reuse these permits. Remember to collect the visitor permit when your guest(s) leave.
Exemptions
These vehicles do not need a permit to park on the street while providing services to a residence:
- Contractors, service and delivery vehicles showing the name and address of a commercial business
- Emergency vehicles, public service, telephone and other public utility vehicles
How to register
- Confirm that you need a parking permit. See the list of roads below or call the Clerk's office.
- Gather copies of the registration cards for each vehicle
- Gather copies of the driver's licenses for each vehicle owner
- Submit the Residential Parking Permit application online or in person at Borough Hall. You will need to provide copies of the registration cards and licenses at this time.
