Borough Hall is closed on December 24 and 25 for the Christmas holiday. NJ American Water is aware of taste and odor issues. There are currently no drinking water advisories in place.

Located at the center of New Jersey and its transportation network, Somerville has been called Downtown Somerset County. Main Street is a destination for shopping and dining for any taste.

Emergency Services Facility

We're building a new facility for Somerville's first responders. This new building is located in the Gaston Avenue redevelopment area. Learn more about the project.

Our location

All major transportation routes pass through or near the Borough, including private buses, NJT buses and trains (Raritan Valley line).

Vehicle traffic uses State Routes 28, 202 and 206. U.S. Route 22 forms the northern boundary of the Borough, while Interstate 287 parallels Route 22. Interstate 78 is within 2 miles of the Borough.

As the seat of government for Somerset County, Somerville is home to many county facilities, including the courthouse and administrative buildings, plus RWJ University Hospital at Somerset.
