PSE&G is working in Somerville to replace gas mains and services. This work is Phase 1 of a 10-12 month gas construction project. All crews will first finish installing new mains and then proceed to connect service lines.
Expect an increase in traffic, loud noise, and presence of heavy equipment and machinery in these areas. All work is pending weather and availability of materials.
Monday, September 25 to Saturday, September 30
Pay attention to posted street signs for any changes.
- Grove St (between E Young St & Rt 22): Connecting services
- N Doughty Ave (near the intersection of W Main St): Connecting services
- Main St (between James St & Loeser Ave): Installing main and connecting services
- Vanderveer Ave (between Reimer St & Grant Ave): Installing main and connecting services
PSE&G is planning to add more locations this week. They will notify Somerville Police who will redirect traffic, as needed.
Wednesday, September 27
PSE&G will start paving the streets where they finished replacing the gas mains and services. Phase 1 of this project starts next Wednesday, weather pending.
Garbage collection
Plan for an earlier pickup while roads are under construction. Please put trash out the night before collection.
