PSE&G is working in Somerville to replace gas mains and services. This work is Phase 1 of a 10-12 month gas construction project. All crews will first finish installing new mains and then proceed to connect service lines.
Expect an increase in traffic, loud noise, and presence of heavy equipment and machinery in these areas. All work is pending weather and availability of materials.
Monday, October 16 to Saturday, October 21
Pay attention to posted street signs for any changes.
- Main St (between Park Ave and N. Bridge St): Installing main overnight, Monday to Thursday, 8 pm to 5 am. Lane shifts will start around 7 pm.
- N. Gaston Ave: Connecting service on Wednesday (PSE&G to provide cross streets)
- Main St (between James St & Loeser Ave): Installing main and connecting services
- Vanderveer Ave (between Reimer St & Grant Ave): Installing main and connecting services
- PSE&G will also continue paving the streets where they completed replacing the gas mains and services.
PSE&G is planning to add more locations this week. They will notify Somerville Police who will redirect traffic, as needed.
Garbage collection
Plan for an earlier pickup while roads are under construction. Please put trash out the night before collection.
