December 20: NJ American Water is aware of taste and odor issues and will continue flushing the water system. We are anticipating 1 to 2 inches of snow tonight into Saturday morning. Black ice is possible. Residents have 12 daylight hours to clear snow from sidewalks once the precipitation has ended.

February 15 update: Crews will work on E. Main Street, near Hamilton Street, on Thursday and Friday.

February 14 update: Work was postponed due to inclement weather and will resume on Thursday, February 15.

PSE&G crews will start working on Main Street at 9 am, on Monday, February 12. This work is to connect gas services, and is part of the gas pipe replacement project that started in March 2023.

  • Work will start on Main Street, at the Bridge Street intersection
  • They will work their way down to Park Avenue
  • Work hours are from 9 am to 3 pm (approved by the state)
  • Crews will start setting up at 8 am and complete breakdown by 4 pm
  • Crews will not work on Saturday, February 17 (due to the weather forecast)

Parking on Main Street

  • No parking signs will be posted on Main Street, from Division Street to Grove Street
  • No parking hours are from 8 am to 4 pm (to accommodate setup and breakdown)
  • Signs will be moved as the work progresses

Traffic Control

Traffic control on Main Street will vary to ensure safety and will include:

  • Lane shifts
  • Road closures and detours around the work areas, when deemed necessary by Somerville police
