Canvassers from the Somerset County Department of Human Services will be knocking on doors in Somerville, daily, from 1 to 6 pm, starting on Tuesday, April 15. They are part of a two-year outreach program to connect residents to service programs, including:
- addiction resources
- mental health resources
- food assistance
- services for seniors (60+), adults with disabilities, and their caregivers
About the canvassers
The Community Outreach Team will wear reflective vests and identification badges. They will provide informational materials and step-by-step assistance with the application process. The canvassers were trained to respect the privacy of residents, while offering resources in a compassionate and non-intrusive manner.
