4/21/2023 - Earth Day Weekend Activities
The Environmental Commission invites all Somerville residents to celebrate Earth Day by participating in these projects:
Town Swap
Friday, April 21 - Sunday, April 23
Help reduce waste in Somerville and keep items out of landfills. Put out toys, clothes, books and other household items (in good condition) for others to pick up. Residents are responsible for cleaning up items that are not picked up by Sunday, April 23.
Tree Planting
Friday, April 21
A tree planting activity will be held at the Somerville YMCA.
Town Cleanup and Tree Planting
Saturday, April 22 | 9 AM | Somerville High School Parking Lot (222 Davenport St)
We're going to plant trees along the banks of Peter's Brook and remove litter and debris from the borough's parks, brooks and other public areas.
- Come alone or invite your friends and family
- Community groups, youth groups and scouts are encouraged to participate
- Registration is not required
- Work gloves, trash bags and refreshments will be provided by the Public Works Department
- Tree seedlings, maps and instructions will be provided
- Please bring your own shovels and rakes (if planting)
Green Fair
Saturday, April 22 | 9 AM | Somerville High School Parking Lot (222 Davenport St)
- Connect with vendors
- Lean about the borough's Community Garden
- Enjoy free giveaways (tree seedlings, hats, t-shirts and reusable tote bags)
