11/24/2022 - Mayor's Holiday Message

Dear Somerville Community,

As 2022 comes to a close and we begin to share the upcoming festivities with family and friends, let me take this opportunity to wish you all the happiest and healthiest of holiday seasons.

The true spirit of Somerville goes far beyond the sights and sounds of colorful outdoor displays, familiar seasonal music, and energizing public events. It is found in the genuine care we feel for one another, and the collective effort we make in supporting our 12,000 neighbors throughout the year. A special thanks goes out to our first responders, hospital workers, school personnel, and community volunteers who put the needs of others before their own every day of the year. They are the reason for Somerville’s success as a place where families can live and grow in comfort and safety, and I hope the upcoming quality time they will spend with loved ones will make up for the many hours spent away from home in the service of others.

The good people of Somerville are always ready to help in a crisis, and I know that this tradition will continue in the weeks ahead. There are many opportunities to help the less fortunate through food, clothing and toy drives sponsored by responsible religious and civic organizations. If your means allow, any contribution you make will brighten the life of someone in need, and add to the joy of your own holidays.

From your Borough Council and the staff at Borough Hall, and from Marge and I here at home, may the spirit of the season fill your homes with love, peace and joy both now and in the new year to come.

Sincerely,
Mayor Dennis Sullivan
