1/8/2019 - PUBLIC NOTICE Administative Consent Order (ACO)

 

TAKE NOTICE that the Somerset Raritan Valley Sewerage Authority (SRVSA) has executed an Administrative Consent Order (ACO) with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and the Borough of Somerville to address unpermitted discharges of untreated sanitary wastewater (also known as sanitary sewer overflows or “SSOs”) during periods of heavy precipitation and/or wet weather in the vicinity of Arthur Chambres Park located on Southside Avenue in Bridgewater Township.  This ACO requires that the Borough of Somerville make a number of repairs to its sanitary sewer collection system, and that SRVSA construct a new Storm Control Treatment Facility in Bridgewater Township to capture and treat sanitary sewer overflows and safely discharge the treated water into the Raritan River. Public comment on this diversion request will be accepted during the thirty (30) day public comment period, running from January 10, 2019 to February 8, 2019.
