ATTENTION SOMERVILLE DOG OWNERS
2019 Dog Licenses expire on January 31, 2020. All Somerville dog owners MUST get a new or renewed dog license during the month of January. Licenses must be renewed before February 1, 2020.
Licenses can be obtained in-person at Somerville Borough Hall, 25 West End Avenue, or through the mail. A dog license application can be found at www.somervillenj.org.

The license fee is $12.00 for neutered dogs or $15.00 for non-neutered dogs. A NEW LICENSE will only be issued with proof of rabies vaccination and neuter (if applicable).
RENEWAL of an existing license will require proof of new rabies vaccination if the current rabies vaccination will expire during 2020 (the upcoming license year). If you pay by check or money order, please make payable to “Borough of Somerville”.
PAYMENT OPTION FOR RENEWALS ONLY. You can pay on-line at a link on the Somerville website home page (available January 1, 2020) and your license and tag will be mailed to your home.
ON-LINE PAYMENT IS TO RENEW AN EXISTING DOG LICENSE WITH A RABIES CERTIFICATE THAT IS VALID THROUGH OCTOBER 31, 2020.
STATE REGULATIONS REQUIRE THAT ALL RABIES IMMUNIZATION MUST BE VALID THROUGH OCTOBER 31, 2020. IF THE VACCINATION DATE ON THE RABIES CERTIFICATE EXPIRES BEFORE OCTOBER 31, 2020 YOU MUST GET A BOOSTER SHOT FOR YOUR DOG PRIOR TO LICENSING.
If you renew a dog license after January 31 the late fees are $3.00 in February AND an additional $1.00 for each month thereafter.
If you have moved or no longer own a dog that has been licensed in Somerville, please let us know so we can remove your pet from our records.

Pursuant to the provisions of P.L. 2017, CHAPTER 189 b. The New Jersey Department of Health - www.nj.gov/health/vph - shall post the following on its website:

These materials shall be distributed by the municipality to each person obtaining an annual dog license and be posted on all New Jersey municipality websites.
