Take the ‘Making Connections’ Online Survey

SOMERVILLE – Commuters, residents, business people and others interested in traffic issues in and around Somerset County are invited to take the “Making Connections” survey at www.ridewise.org  The response date has been extended to April 23.  Somerset County is updating its 2003 Circulation Element to provide for changing transportation needs and to reinforce the county’s smart-growth policies. A public meeting was held earlier this month.

This update will create an action-oriented plan for a countywide, multi-modal transportation network for the movement of people and goods that strengthens the linkage between land use and transportation and stresses environmental quality and the need for increased public transit to reduce traffic congestion.  The study is being conducted by Somerset County and funded by the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority.   “This will enable the county to achieve its vision, goals and objectives and to track progress by establishing measures of effectiveness,” said Freeholder Patrick Scaglione, planning liaison.
