Black ice is possible. Residents have 12 daylight hours to clear snow from sidewalks once the precipitation has ended.

Glen Denys

3-year term: January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2026

Glen was born and raised in town. He attended Somerville’s public schools, and then went to Muhlenberg College obtaining a BA in English, and K-8 teacher certification. After working as a classroom teacher, he earned a MS in Environmental Science and then returned to live in Somerville with his wife, Ruth in 2007. Currently, he teaches in Bernards Township and is an active member of his teachers’ union by serving as his building head representative and chairperson of the Health and Safety Committee.

Glen worked for ten summers at a Lutheran sleepaway camp in New Jersey. Afterwards, he was invited to become a camp board member, which helped oversee the merging of two camps onto the one property. Additionally, he remains active in the same congregation he grew up in, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Union Ave.

Since 2020, Glen has participated on the Environmental Commission and supported their work, including helping review and craft ordinances, as well as volunteering during clean ups, tree plantings and educational events. He also served on the Ad Hoc Flood Advisory Committee.

Glen and Ruth have 2 boys in the Somerville schools, Graham and Harrison. As a family they ride bicycles along the same streets Glen rode as a kid, and enjoy exploring the parks along the Greenway.
