December 20: NJ American Water is aware of taste and odor issues and will continue flushing the water system. We are anticipating 1 to 2 inches of snow tonight into Saturday morning. Black ice is possible. Residents have 12 daylight hours to clear snow from sidewalks once the precipitation has ended.

Somerville is 2.5 square miles of awesome…and Brian lives that every day!

Born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ, Brian and his wife Lisa (from Belle Mead), settled in Somerville in 1991, raised their five children, all graduating the Somerville schools. The longest serving Mayor in the history of Somerville, Brian began his elected community service as a councilman in 2001. He was then elected Mayor in 2004, and was re-elected for three more consecutive terms serving until 2018. He was then elected and served a term as a Somerset County Freeholder from 2018-2020. He was re-elected Mayor to begin serving another term starting 2024.

Under his leadership the Borough has undergone a renaissance returning Somerville to its place as downtown Somerset County. His vision for Somerville has always been one of vibrancy culture, walk-ability and a destination for families and visitors alike. His coordination and planning helped Somerville realize a rebirth socially, culturally, economically, and physically.  Many transformations have occurred under his leadership including; Main Street redevelopment, Division Street, the Landfill redevelopment project, Peters Brook Greenway, and many others.

Brian is also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Somerville Elks, the Somerville Lions Club, and a past president and current board member of the Union County 200 Club.
