Apply for a dumpster permit

If you need to use a construction dumpster in the public right of way, you need a dumpster permit.

Need to know

• Cost:
  • $50 for 10 days
  • $100, if it blocks parking meters
• If you need it more than 10 days, there are additional fees.
• Your dumpster cannot exceed 30 cubic yards

Before you start

You will need to provide proof of insurance with your application. If you are a homeowner, $500,000 coverage is required. If you are a dumpster provider, $1,000,000 coverage is required.

Steps

1. Download and complete the application.
2. Submit the application with your insurance certificate.
3. Pay the permit fee.

If you need to extend the length of your permit, you need to pay additional fees:

• $50 for 10 more days; $100 if it blocks parking meters
• If you don't need 10 more days, you can extend with daily fees:
  • $10 per day for dumpsters 20 cubic yards or smaller; $20 if it blocks parking meters
  • $15 per day for dumpsters more than 20 cubic yards; $25 if it blocks parking meters
