Apply for a dumpster permit
If you need to use a construction dumpster in the public right of way, you need a dumpster permit.
Need to know
- Cost:
- $50 for 10 days
- $100, if it blocks parking meters
- If you need it more than 10 days, there are additional fees.
- Your dumpster cannot exceed 30 cubic yards
Before you start
You will need to provide proof of insurance with your application. If you are a homeowner, $500,000 coverage is required. If you are a dumpster provider, $1,000,000 coverage is required.

Steps
- Download and complete the application.
- Submit the application with your insurance certificate.
- Pay the permit fee.

If you need to extend the length of your permit, you need to pay additional fees:
- $50 for 10 more days; $100 if it blocks parking meters
- If you don't need 10 more days, you can extend with daily fees:
- $10 per day for dumpsters 20 cubic yards or smaller; $20 if it blocks parking meters
- $15 per day for dumpsters more than 20 cubic yards; $25 if it blocks parking meters
