Engineering
The Borough of Somerville, through a shared service initiative with the Somerset County Engineering Department, provides all roadway construction and engineering related services to the Borough.
The Borough employs a full-time, Assistant to the Engineer who can assist with any questions regarding Engineering related issues.
Somerville’s Voluntary Sidewalk Improvement Program for Residential Property Owners
The Sidewalk Improvement Program allows residents to replace all or part of an existing sidewalk, or driveway apron passing the same rate the Borough would receive onto the homeowner. You may also install a new sidewalk where none currently exists.
The Borough will assemble the applications, advertise and award the construction contract, and inspect the work to ensure quality.
The Sidewalk Improvement Program for Residential Property Owners is an excellent opportunity to make sidewalk repairs or installations that you may have been putting off. It is another way we’re making Somerville a better place for all of us.
For a complete details please download from the below listing the application form in PDF. If after reading through you still have questions you may contact Brendan Nally, Assistant to the Engineer at bnally@somervillenj.org or at 908-704-2490.

From there you can make a letter size “Firmette” which shows the map panel name, your address, and the portion of the flood map associated with your property.
