The Department of Community Development is managed by the Director and comprised of the following offices and individuals:
This division is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Uniform Construction Code (UCC). The UCC dictates what building codes are to be used in the design and construction of new buildings, additions, alterations, reconstructions, etc of residential and non residential structures. This division issues construction permits and conducts the necessary inspections to verify the work performed is to the codes. View the adopted codes and standards for the State of New Jersey. Construction permit application forms are available at the Community Development Office in Borough Hall.

Code Enforcement Division
This division is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Borough’s property maintenance code. This division enforces the International Property Maintenance Code adopted by the International Code Council and other relative Borough Ordinances. This Division is also responsible for the registration and inspection of 1 & 2 Family Non Owner Occupied Residential Rental Properties pursuant Chapter 132 of the Borough Code. Zoning Enforcement Division
This division is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Borough’s Land Use and Development Ordinance also known as the zoning ordinance. To file a complaint please contact the office at (908) 725-2300 x 1965. This Division reviews applications for consistency with the Land Use and Development Ordinance.
Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment
The Department of Community Development is also responsible for the administration of all applications for development which require municipal approvals such as subdivisions, site plans, and variances. The Borough Land Use and Development Ordinance (Zoning Ordinance) contains the setbacks and other zoning requirements for each zone within the Borough.
